A Brighter Community, Inc. got its start in 1925. At that time the child care center was known as the WCTU Day Nursery. The nursery later became known as the Tampa Day nursery and still remains at the same location just north of downtown.

A Brighter Community, Inc. is a non-profit, United Way supported, nationally accredited preschool and family support program. Through community collaborations it offers access to speech therapy, and mental health counseling, and serves economically and environmentally at risk children, ages 3-5 years. It offers Pre-K classes, Head Start, and before-school and after-school programs.

Holland & Knight charitable resources and volunteers partner with A Brighter Community by inviting the children to our offices on a regular basis for reading time. Each child receives a book of his or her choice, and sits with a volunteer to read the book. Nutritious snacks are always offered, and there is often a special guest here to meet the children (Mrs. Santa, Fireman, Clowns). Additionally, Holland & Knight provides financial support through the board membership of two Holland & Knight lawyers who sit on the organization's board.
